The Agenda

This may vary but will give you an idea of what we intend to do, the days out can vary because of the weather, there is also flexibility for you to do what you want to do, once you begin to experiment. It is difficult to describe exactly what you will do because each technique offers so much more than can be described on paper – I have many examples and ideas to show you – it just remains for you to be inspired!

We provide all transport between arrival point, B&B and Peartree Cottage.

SATURDAY    We meet you at your arrival point and take you to your B & B,  we collect you for the evening meal at Peartree Cottage.

SUNDAY      Batik on tissue paper - experiment with wax, bleach and dyes – you will be amazed by the effects you can achieve – you may not want to try anything else!

MONDAY      Batik on fabric –building on skills learnt yesterday - looking at traditional and more modern techniques - using tjantings, brushes and other methods of applying wax, create samples and larger pieces of work.

TUESDAY      Visit to the mediaeval town of Shrewsbury with its half timbered buildings, shuts and passages. Take in the history and culture or enjoy the shops and cafes. Return mid afternoon to continue with work or relax before the evening meal

WEDNESDAY   Silk painting – learn basic skills – such as use of gutta, salt, wet on wet techniques, and other experimental techniques, using stencils. Create samples and other larger pieces of work.

THURSDAY     Machine embroidery/ fabric collage – create small samples and larger pieces using fabric scraps, possibly working onto a piece of silk painting or batik, and using machine embroidery, or simple stitches to embellish the work. Try also reverse appliqué by layering, stitching and cutting into the fabric.

FRIDAY     Visit the pretty town of Llangollen just across the border in north Wales. There is plenty to see - the beautiful river Dee, the canal, the steam railway and the many individual shops and cafes. Return mid afternoon to continue with work or relax before dinner.

SATURDAY   Transfer to your departure point.

Should you want to concentrate on one or two of the techniques instead of all three that is fine.
